Some things I threw together for myself...and the personnae that go with them!

Norma Desmond

I AM "Big"! It's the pictures that got small!

(The costume came from a clearing-out sale at the English National Opera's warehouse, in the Limehouse district of London. The turban and feathers are my own handiwork.)

Queen Elizabeth the First costume

First photo of my Hallowe'en costume, 2000, minus the wig and the ruff.

(This magnificent costume was badly damaged and lying in a dusty heap on the floor of Ed's Theatre Museum, from whence I rescued it and rebuilt it, adding the shoulder rolls, the strings of pearls, extra jewels, and a heavily beaded coronet.)

Grizzabella the Glamour Cat

In the Grizzabella the Glamour Cat costume I made while still in High School.

(This photo was taken during my first year at university, after I'd perfected the wig and make-up...and lost about 40 lbs, eating the lousy dormitory food.)

Carabosse, the Evil Fairy

As "Carabosse", in a shot-silk costume I got for a song, from the Canadian Opera Company.

(The wings and beaded crown were my own special touches.)

Two Escapees from Transsexual, Transylvania

Me and a friend in the "Rocky Horror" costumes I made.

Don't you just love my hot-pink sequinned "missile cones" with the blue tassels? (I'm still learning how to revolve them in opposite directons.)

La Muerta

As "La Muerta" (Death), in the costume I made for Hallowe'en, 1999.

(It's amazing how beautiful a ghastly pallor and a curly black-haired wig can be!)

Angie Dusstt

As Angie Dusstt, in the costume I made while I was ushering at "Phantom of the Opera".

I later wore the costume to a drag queen contest, which the other queens encouraged me to enter. Well, damned if I didn't win! So I guess "Victor-Victoria" really CAN happen!

Ancient Hag & Grateful Musical Director

As a last-minute replacement for the least hideous of three ancient hags in a production of Aristophanes' "The Assemblywomen" - 1995.

The show's Arranger/Musical Director is embracing me because the day before Opening, I joined the show, learned the role in an hour, threw the costume together overnight, and made my debut on Opening Night. And I was damn good, if I do say so myself!
